Justin L. Esterberg M.D., F.A.A.O.S. is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon focusing his practice on spinal medicine and surgery.
His goal is to ensure his patients understand their condition, the anatomy, and the treatment options and then guide each patient through their selected treatment plan.
Dr. Esterberg is a native of Minneapolis, MN and trained at the University of Minnesota Orthopaedic Surgery program alongside prominent spine surgeons at the Twin Cities Spine Center learning the newest techniques in minimally-invasive spine surgery as well as the treatment of complex spinal deformities. He then was selected for fellowship at the renowned Leatherman Spine Center in Louisville, Kentucky in their combined neurosurgical and orthopedic spine surgery program.
Dr. Esterberg is a partner in regionally and nationally-known Proliance Surgeons, the largest orthopaedic sub-specialty practice in the Pacific Northwest.
The field of spine medicine and surgery is constantly changing with focus being shifted to less invasive surgical solutions, also known as minimally-invasive spine surgery (MISS). Dr. Esterberg has performed advanced training in MISS and endoscopic spinal surgery with surgeons from around the United States and Europe. Less invasive surgical techniques have been shown to provide significant benefits for patients that need spine surgery by reduction in blood-loss, more rapid recovery, and less disruption of the soft tissues muscles of the spine, thus maintaining as much of the normal anatomy as possible during a surgical procedure.
Several motion-preserving surgical solutions exist today that can be selectively utilized for specific patients in place of fusion procedures, including artificial disc replacement and dynamic stabilization. Dr. Esterberg emphasizes the use of non-surgical solutions for his patients since most issues can be managed without surgery. When surgery is indicated, he will recommend the least invasive surgical solution to help provide pain relief for each patient.
